Heeeey guys! As you probably already know, I’m back home from Mexico and it’s time to tell you more about our experiences over there. Tulum is and has been a very popular destination for many years now and I’m glad that I got the chance to experience it, together with my brother.
Where did we live?
The very first days in Tulum we stayed at a private retreat called “Playääkun Lyxury Villa” located inside the Sian Ka’an Biosphere in Tulum (south end of Tulum). One of the reasons I liked this area was because we had days when we were all alone at the beach, imagine that!
The Villa we lived in was huuuuge and we shared it with other people but had our own room. We also had a chef and a staff (the best) who constantly was around if we needed something. This was one of the benefits living with other people, actually getting to know them. Don’t this place look like paradise?
What did we do?
Tata Tulum: This place was nice and like many of the places that are located right on the beach, we had to pay an amount of money (we also got to eat for the money and got our own sun beds) if we wanted to get in there. But if you want to go there for a drink, check if you can because I’m pretty sure that you are supposed to be able to do this. Other alternatives with nice “beach vibes” are Coco tulum, Nest tulum, Nomad etc. You have so so many since they are all located next to each other on the beach and the beach is like 7-8km long.
Grand cenote: This was a MUST so one morning we woke up a bit earlier, rented a car and went here. I think we was there at around 8-9 but unfortunately even though we thought that we were early and it wouldn’t be so many people there, it was. So, if you want to capture some nice shots with less people, wake up EARLY. However this place was so cool and beautiful at the same time. If you come here, have in mind that you have to pay an entrance fee and stay here for at least a couple of hours.
Biking: Another MUST that I think you should experience if you visit Tulum. It’s fun and it’s easier to get to places in case you don’t have a car. Al though I must admit that we regret that we didn’t rent a car from the Cancun airport right away instead of renting it two days and then going with taxi the rest of the days as it turned out to be more expensive.
Pablo Escobar’s Tulum mansion – Casa Malca: This place was cool! We stopped here to capture some photos and it looks incredible! But if you’re planing to visit, I would rather recommend you to come here and stay at the beach for a couple of hours.
Kin Toh: You have probably not missed this spectacular place! It’s a restaurant at the Azulik resort, which you must have seen on instagram. Just like many other hotels here in Tulum, they have a sustainable thinking (+++). We didn’t have the time to explore the hotel, which I think you should if you visit, but we went for drinks at the restaurant. If you ask me, this is not only a restaurant, this is whole experience.
Nomade: After many recommendations we decided to visit Nomade. We went there for lunch and I must say that the whole hotel- and area was so beautiful. For lunch me and Alen chose shrimp tacos since I got it recommended but to be honest this was less good, especially since the princes here are a high. Besides of this I liked the atmosphere and the vibe at this place.
Suytun cenote: After seeing pictures of this magical place, we just had to visit it. So, one morning we rented a car and went there. I took us around 1,5h to get there from Tulum beach and we arrived at around 9.30am. It opens at 9 so once again, try to be here before 9 and I’m sure that they would let you in anyway. Me and Alen had like 1 minute to capture a picture without any people hehe. However, this place was interesting, mysterious and impressive. One tip that I must give you is, when you’re planing to visit Chichen Itza (a must), visit this place first, as it’s on the way!

Here in Sweden it only gets colder and colder, and the only thing that I’m thinking of is Mexico and El Dorado hotel. Just by looking at these pictures it makes me warm in my body. Many days we spent at the hotel, I mean, then you can understand how wonderful the hotel was? We chose to shoot shoot shoot and then relax the rest of the day. Chilling out at the beach, order room service, taking a dip in our pool etc. Something I really needed after all the work and study the past months. Now I’m taking new steps and can’t wait for my the next trip, a weekendtrip with K. Guess where? Love, S
Love, S

Something that was high on my priority list in Mexico was to visit the Mexican island Isla Mujeres. I had heard much about this place, received many recommendations and after looking it up on the internet, I felt it was something I just had to do. We booked a trip there through our hotel. It takes approximately an half hour to get there by boat from Cancun, which was relatively close to us. Our day looked basically like this, we went to Cancun with a mini bus where we met other people who also was going on this tour. The boat we took was a typical “party” boat, not really my style and I felt bad because of the waves and the smell of alcohol but fortunately it didn’t take long until we were there. First stop was the time to visit their mainland. Here we rented a golf cart and drove around the small island. After a while it was time to visit the next place where we would eat lunch. This was on the beach and the only thing that caught my eyes was the beach itself. It was indescribably beautiful. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to be on the beach which made me sad since it was everything I longed for. I mean, I planned many of things that I wanted to shoot on this beautiful beach. So I just ate fast and then tried to shoot at least something. Then it was time to go back to Cancun. The day was, unfortunately, not as I had imagined but I want to share this with you because you must visit this place if you go to Mexico and my tip is to experience the beach by yourself, skip these kind of tours. A magical place that I will definitely visit again if I get the opportunity. Beautiful Mexico! Love, S
Vackra Mexico! Love, S

One day remaining of 2015 and right now I’m sitting on the train to Malmö. I’ve missed him so much. The idea is to celebrate the New Year’s eve with some friends at home. I don’t know if it has to do with age, but it feels like the older you get the more you think that New Year’s is overrated. But even though I feel that, I also feel that it should be celebrated 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful ending and an even better start in the new year! Happy new year <3 Love, S
